dear TK,

we're building holocene. one song a day, chosen by one person, given to whoever's reading. we'd love for you to give us one.

choose a song that reminds you of your first moments of sharing music with a friend, a family member, maybe even a stranger. you could do this as yourself, or with the person you'd be sharing it with.

holocene is about discovery and rediscovery, the digging, the personal. songs people haven't heard, or songs they think they know and don't. not a rule, just where we live.

    vertical, 9:16, eye level. phone is fine if it's hd.

    quiet. no fan, no traffic, nothing playing behind you.
    light
    even on your face. nothing bright behind you.
    length
    up to two minutes. one take is fine. we'd rather have the real one than the clean one.
    file
    mp4 or mov, straight off the phone.
    room
    small and soft beats big and empty.
    mic
    voice memos is fine, earbuds are better. a hand's width away, off to the side.
    length
    up to three minutes.

    a drawing, a collage, a photograph, a page from a notebook.

    2000px on the long edge. a phone photo of a physical thing is fine, flat light.
